How do I select a microphone for Zoom?

Environment

  • Zoom
  • macOs
  • Windows

Resolution

  1. Join Zoom meeting using Meeting ID provided by host.
  2. Move mouse within Zoom meeting window to display bottom toolbar.
  3. Locate audio icon in bottom left corner.
  4. Confirm icon is labeled Mute. If audio is muted, icon will display Unmute with red slash.
  5. Click up arrow ( ^ ) next to audio icon.
  6. Select microphone that corresponds to device being used (built-in or external).
  7. Speak to confirm audio is detected and other participants can hear you.
