Issues Signing PDF

Issue/Question

I am unable to sign a form that a student electronically signed as well. When I click on the signature field where I am supposed to sign the field blinks and does nothing. I am able to fill out non-signature fields in this same form as well.

Environment

  • Adobe Reader

Cause

Adobe Reader does not have the correct Certificates installed or the previous signer of the PDF form signed the form using something other than Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat to sign the PDF.

Resolution

Method 1

  1. Uninstall Adobe Reader.
  2. Download and install the newest version of Adobe Reader from get.adobe.com/reader.

Method 2

  1. Open the affected PDF.
  2. Click on the paper and pen icon on the left-hand side of Adobe Reader. This icon is right below the paper clip icon.
  3. Under the Signatures panel, right-click on Rev. 1: signed by (NAME OF SIGNER).
  4. Select Show Signature Properties.
  5. Under the Summary tab, select the Show Certificate... button.
  6. Select the Trust tab.
  7. Select Add to Trusted Identities at the bottom of the Trust Settings header.
  8. Restart Adobe Reader.
