Encountering Error 1310 When Installing Adobe Acrobat

Issue/Question

I can't install Adobe Acrobat due to Error 1310.

Environment

  • Windows 7+
    • Adobe Acrobat

Cause

Error 1310 is given when the Adobe installer is unable to write or overwrite files that are needed for operation of the program. This error most often happens when the program has been uninstalled and is being re-installed on the same computer.

Resolution

  1. Make note of the path that the error occurs for. This path is generally C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat X.X\X\X where the X can be any variable
  2. Close the installer and navigate to the path for which the error was reported.
  3. Where the folder is Acrobat X.X, rename the folder to Acrobat X.X.old to prevent the error. The end path should be as follows: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat X.X.old
  4. Restart the computer.
  5. Re-install the software as you normally would.
