Requesting a Delivery or Read Receipt

Issue/Question

How do I request a delivery or read receipt for a single email?

Cause

A delivery receipt confirms delivery of your email message to the recipient's mail server, but not that the recipient has seen it or read it. A read receipt confirms that your message was opened. There are scenarios where read receipts are not sent, such as the message recipient declining to send read receipts, or if the recipient's email program does not support read receipts.

Resolution

  1. Log into your WKU email account.
  2. Select New Message to compose a new message.
  3. Above the message, click  for more message commands.
  4. Select Show message options...
  5. Check  Request a delivery receipt and/or  Request a read receipt, as desired.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Address and send your message as usual.
