Issue/Question
The alt text dialog box on images and charts does not allow editing.
Environment
Cause
The file is saved in an earlier version of the Microsoft Office (97-2003) (.doc, .xls, .ppt) format that does not support alt-text. Your office product may also display [Compatibility Mode] in the title bar.
Resolution
Upgrade the format of the file to the most recent file type (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx). The file will no longer be compatible with Microsoft Word 2003 and earlier without the compatibility pack.
- Open the file experiencing the problem.
- Click the File menu at the top of the Ribbon.
- Click Convert.
