Cannot See Built-In Webcam in a Zoom Meeting on Windows

Issue/Question

I cannot see the built-in webcam in a Zoom Meeting on Windows.

Environment

  • Zoom
  • Windows

Resolution

  1. If you have not already, navigate to Settings > Video in Zoom and confirm correct camera is selected. Adjust video settings as needed and verify video preview is visible.
  2. While in meeting, click up arrow ( ^ ) next to Start Video and confirm built-in camera is selected.
  3. Leave meeting by clicking End in bottom toolbar. If you are not host, select Leave Meeting to avoid ending session for other participants.
  4. Close all other applications that utilize camera, as only one application can use camera at a time.
  5. Restart computer.
  6. If camera still does not work in Zoom after restarting, open Camera app in Windows to verify whether camera functions outside of Zoom.
  7. If camera works in another application, uninstall Zoom client and reinstall latest version from Zoom Download Center.
  8. Navigate to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera and confirm camera access is enabled and Zoom is allowed to use camera.
  9. Update camera driver by visiting device manufacturer support page:

Note: Some computers may have a physical switch around the camera that closes it off. Please ensure that your camera shutter has been opened.
