Removing Remote Management from Devices Enrolled in Apple School Manager

Issue/Question

After performing a system restore, why did my Apple device display this error:

Remote Management

Remote management enables the administrator of "Western Kentucky University" to set up email and network accounts, install and configure apps, and manage this computer's [iPad's/Apple TV's] settings.

"Western Kentucky University" can automatically configure your computer [iPad/Apple TV].

Environment

  • Personally-owned Apple device purchased through WKU Store.

Cause

Apple offers automatic device management on qualified Macs, iPads, and Apple TVs.  WKU is setup to have this feature disabled, but some devices get automatically enrolled incorrectly.

Resolution

Please contact the ITS Service Desk or submit a service request by clicking the Request Service button to have the device manually removed from remote management.

The Serial number of the device is required.  Proof of purchase may be requested as well.
