A message appears on my screen:
macOS Software Updates Required
remaining deferrals
Software updates are available to be installed on this Mac which require a restart:
Your administrator requires that these updates are installed as soon as possible.
Please save your work and press Continue. This will open the Software Update panel. From here, press Install Now to begin the installation.
Environment
Cause
This is an intended feature, added in August 2023.
Resolution
- The message will appear periodically, allowing you to defer the restart for multiple days.
- When ready, click Continue.
- System Settings/Preferences will appear and show the Software Update pane.
- Click to install the necessary update.
If the update has been deferred for more than 10 days, the computer will automatically restart to install the update.
