Why do I keep getting requests to connect to other computers when I'm on campus?

Cause

Users may experience random connection requests because their computer is broadcasting via sharing preferences.

Resolution

1. Navigate to System Preferences.
2. Select Sharing.
3. Check/Uncheck the service you wish to enable/disable.
