My messages list only shows the day and time a message is sent. Can the year be shown as well?

Cause
Messages sent the same day only show the time they were sent. Messages sent within the last week show the day and time they were sent. Messages between one and two weeks old show the day and date they were sent. Messages two weeks and older only show the date they were sent.
Resolution
There is no way to force all messages to display the date and time in the messages list. Messages must be opened/previewed in order to see their day, date, and time sent.
