Making a Call from a WKU Cisco Phone

How do I make a phone call from a WKU Cisco phone?

Environment

• Cisco Phones

Resolution

There are multiple ways to place a call:

• Lift the handset and enter a number.
• Press the New Call softkey.
• Press the unlit (headset button) or (speakerphone button).

Off Campus Phone Number

Faculty / Staff

• Dial 9 + 1 + Area Code + 7 digit phone number.

Student Dorm Phone

• Students will have to purchase and use a calling card to make long distance phone calls.

International Number

• Dial 9 + 011 + Country Code + City Code + Number
  Note: WKU telephones are not initially configured to allow international calls. To request international calling capabilities, please contact the ITS Service Desk or submit a service request by clicking the Request Service button.

On Campus Phone Number

When placing calls to WKU phones, you should dial the 5-digit extension. WKU has several prefixes used by main campus and extended campuses, however 5-digit dialing is still available to use for each. You cannot dial WKU on campus numbers using full 10-digit number, you will get an error message. The table below is what 5-digit extension to use with the corresponding WKU phone number.
