Import Error When Importing Photos or Videos from an iPhone or iPad

Issue/Question

When I try and import photos from my iPhone / iPad I get the following error:

Something went wrong, your files may not have imported.

Environment

• Windows 10

Cause

If the iPhone / iPad is set to back up photos and videos to a cloud service, the full files may not be available to import causing this error. 

Resolution

1. If your phone is plugged into the computer, unplug it. 
2. Go to the Settings app of your iPhone / iPad. 
3. Tap on Photos. 
4. Under the Transfer to Mac or PC option, tap Keep Originals. 
5. Plug your phone back into your computer. 
6. Import the photos / videos as you normally would.
