How do I change Firefox's download behavior by filetype and extension?
Environment
Cause
There is a need to change the way that Firefox interacts with a certain kind of download based upon the file's extension.
Resolution
You must first have attempted to download at least one file with the extension you wish to customize, such as .pdf or .zip.
- Open Firefox.
- Click the menu in the upper-right corner.
- Select Options.
- Select the General tab.
- In the Files and Applications section, select the action you would like Firefox to complete when downloading a file with a particular extension.
