Allowing Access to Specific External Web Domains with Respondus Lockdown Browser

Issue/Question

How do I allow some external links or websites in my Blackboard exams that are completed via Respondus LockDown Browser?

Environment

  • Blackboard

Resolution

  1. Navigate to the course site where the test is located.
  2. Expand Control Panel under Course Management
  3. Expand Course Tools and the select Respondus Lockdown Browser.
  4. Click Continue to LockDown Browser
  5. Click the chevron next to the exam you want to allow external domains for.
  6. Click the bubble next to Require Respondus LockDown Browser for this exam if it's not already selected.
  7. Then click the Checkbox next to Allow access to specific external web domains
  8. In the box that appears, put any web domains that you need your students to have access to separating multiple links with a comma.
    e.g. algebra-ebooks.com, calculus-ebooks.com.
  9. Click Save + Close
You will need to add a link to the site onto the exam so that your students are directed to the webpage, this feature only allows them to go anywhere on the specified sites only.
