Adding Student Sections to Blackboard Course Site

Issue/Question

How do I add or merge multiple student course sections from a single Blackboard course site?

Environment

  • Blackboard

Resolution

If you need to enroll more than one student section in a single Blackboard course site, the courses must first be Banner-merged or cross-listed with each other in TopNet by the WKU Office of the Registrar. From the Faculty Tools Add Students page, please complete the linked FERPA and Merged Blackboard Courses form to request cross-listing. Please note, cross-list course approval is solely at the discretion of the Registrar.
  1. Log into Blackboard.
  2. Select My WKU Bb tab.
  3. Select ITS: Faculty Tools tab and log in.
  4. Navigate to Students.
  5. Select Add Student Sections
  6. Select the appropriate term in the dropdown.
  7. Click Submit.
  8. Click Add Students next to the Blackboard course site where you wish to add your student sections.
Note: This list only shows course sites the instructor has created for the term. You must click Add Students to see all student sections available to add to the course site.
  9. Check the Check Box for the correct course section. If the section appears but cannot be selected, return to Add Students and make sure the section is not enrolled in another course site. If so, it must be removed from that site first before you can add it to another.
Note: If you don't see the correct section as an option, you will need to have the courses cross-listed in Topnet. Please complete the FERPA and Merged Blackboard Courses form linked on the Faculty Tools Add Students page to request that your courses be cross-listed.
  10. Click Submit.

These changes will be reflected upon completion of the next Blackboard update at the top of each hour.
