Office Suite Programs Crashing / Not Responding


Some Office suite programs (e.g. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) are not working properly. They either crash or stop responding.


  • Windows
    • Office Suite 2010+


First, try running the program in Safe Mode and see if any addons are causing issues with the startup of the program.

  1. Hold down the CTRL key while clicking the program's icon.
  2. (Safe Mode) will appear at the end of the program's title bar to confirm it is running in safe mode.

If that does not solve the problem run a repair on the Office Suite. This checks for problems and repairs any issues detected.

  1. Click  Start.
  2. Type Control Panel and press Enter on the keyboard.
  3. Click Programs and Features.
  4. Click the title for your version of Microsoft Office.
  5. Click Change.
  6. Select Repair.
  7. Click Continue to begin the analysis and repair.
