Changing Settings to for Creating New Threads

How do I change the settings to allow or disallow students from creating new threads in a Discussion Board Forums?

Resolution

When Creating a Forum

When creating the forum for the first time, uncheck the box next to Allow Members to Create New Threads on the Create Forum page if you do not wish to allow students to create a new thread. If you do wish for students to create a new thread, ensure this box is checked.

Changing an Existing Forum

  1. Browse to the Discussion Board that contains the forum you would like to change.
  2. Hover over the forum title and click the Chevron Icon that appears next to it.
  3. Click Edit.
    1. Uncheck the box next to Allow Members to Create New Threads on the Edit Forum page if you do not wish for students to create new threads.
    2. If you do wish for students to create new threads, ensure the box for Allow Members to Create New Threads is checked.
  4. Click Submit.
