Issue/Question
I downloaded a program from the web, but when I try to open it, I get an error:
"[Application Name]" can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.
Cause
By default, apps not from the App Store are blocked from opening.
Resolution
To Enable Identified Publishers
- Click the Apple menu item.
- Select System Preferences... .
- Click Security & Privacy.
- Click the lockpad.
- Enter your account password and click OK.
- Select Mac App Store and identified developers.
- Try opening the app again. If the error continues, continue below.
To Allow All Apps
- Follow steps 1 through 5 above.
- Select Anywhere.
- The app can now open.
