Issue/Question
An assignment or assessment on Blackboard already has a submission and is not allowing me to submit another attempt.
Environment
Cause
This happens when a student has already attempted a specific assessment or assessment which the instructor has configured to allow a limited number of attempts. To resolve this, the instructor will need to manage the student's attempts from the Grade Center.
Resolution
- Open the Full Grade Center.
- Hover the mouse over the Grade Center item in question, and click the menu icon .
- Choose View Grade Details.
- There may be several options available on this page, including:
- Allow Additional Attempt, which only appears if a student has already submitted the maximum number of attempts allowed for that assignment. You can continue to offer opportunities to resubmit attempts each time a student reaches the maximum number. You don't have to grade previous attempts to allow a student to submit again. This will preserve the student's current attempt.
- Ignore Attempt, which ignores the attempt score in grade calculations and does not count it against the maximum number of attempts.
- Clear Attempt, which will remove all data associated with the student's attempt for the assignment. This action is final, and cannot be undone.
- After choosing the needed option, the student can submit another attempt.
