Cisco Phone Displays Detecting Network

Issue/Question

My Cisco desk phone is displaying Detecting Network.

Environment

  • Cisco Phone with Macintosh connected to the phone's switch port

Cause

The Wake for network access feature of macOS  will cause a network issue with the phone if the computer enters sleep mode for an extended period of time.

Resolution

Disable the Wake for network access feature by following the steps below:

  1. From the  Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
  2. From the System Preferences menu, click Energy Saver.
  3. Uncheck Wake for network access.
