Adding Student Section to Course Site

Issue/Question

How do I add or merge more than one student course section into a single Blackboard course site?

Environment

  • Blackboard

Resolution

If you need to enroll more than one student section in a single Blackboard course site, the courses must be cross-listed with each other in TopNet by the WKU Office of the Registrar. Please complete the linked FERPA and Merged Blackboard Courses form on the Faculty Tools Add Students page to request cross-listing. Please note that cross-list course approval is solely at the discretion of the WKU Office of the Registrar.
  1. Log into Blackboard.
  2. Select the My WKU Bb tab.
  3. Select the ITS: Faculty Tools tab and log in.
  4. Navigate to Students.
  5. Select Add Student Sections.
  6. Select the appropriate term in the dropdown.
  7. Click Submit.
  8. Click Add Students next to the site where you wish to add your student sections.
  9. Check the Check Box for the correct course section.
Note: If you don't see the correct course section as an option, you will need to have the courses cross-listed in Topnet. Please complete the FERPA and Merged Blackboard Courses form linked on the Faculty Tools Add Students page to request that your courses be cross-listed.
  10. Click Submit.

These changes will be reflected upon completion of the next Blackboard update at the top of each hour.
