  • OS X

To properly troubleshoot a network printer, complete the following steps. After each step, attempt to test the network printer's functionality. If functionality is not restored, continue to the next step.

  1. Power cycle the printer.
  2. Remove and re-add the printer.
  3. Check for OS updates.
  4. If the issue occurs with only one application/suite, check for software updates.
  5. Attempt to add the printer to a different machine to see if the issue is related to the printer or the computer.
  6. Ensure the Default paper size is set to US letter.
    1. Select the apple icon .
    2. Click on System Preferences.
    3. Click on Printers & Scanners.
    4. Select the printer under the Printers header.
    5. Change the Default paper size: drop-down field to US letter if the user is wanting to print on an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper.
  7. If you are still experiencing issues please contact the ITS Service Desk or submit a service request.
