Respondus LockDown Browser Supported Operating Systems

Issue/Question

What operating systems are supported for the Respondus LockDown Browser?

Resolution

Respondus LockDown Browser is supported and automatically enabled on Microsoft Windows, Apple macOS, ChromeOS (ChromeBooks), and iPad OS 12 or higher.

To install the Chrome extension on a student-owned Chromebook, students will need to use the installation link here. The user will need to have administrative rights to install the extension. With managed ChromeOS devices, students may not be able to install the needed extension and should contact their support personnel for assistance in getting admin access to install the extension.

The LockDown Browser iPad app is needed for iPad use and may be installed from the App store. For Original course exams, students will need to launch the LockDown Browser app prior to taking their first exam and select their institution and server to complete app setup. They will take exams from within LockDown Browser. For Ultra course exams, students will only need to open a browser and navigate to the exam in Blackboard. The LockDown Browser app will prompt to launch once the exam is started from Blackboard.
