How do I access WKU's network drives on my Mac?
Environment
Resolution
In order to access the Personal (P:), Shared (S:), and Secure (U:) drives, you must be connected to the
WKU-SECURE wireless network or a
hard-wired Ethernet connection on campus, or use the
Cisco VPN while off campus.
Method 1: Clickable Shortcuts
- Download AD Shortcuts for Mac zip file.
- Open AD Shortcuts for Mac.zip.
- Move folder AD Shortcuts for Mac to a desired location, e.g. Desktop, Documents, or your Dock.
- Open AD Shortcuts for Mac folder.
- Select drive to access.
- You may be prompted to confirm that you want to connect to a server. Click Connect.
- If prompted, fill your NetID and WKU Account password and click Connect.
Method 2: Manual Mount

Open Finder.

Click Go.

Click Connect to server...

Fill smb://fscluster2.ad.wku.edu/shared

Click (add) button.

Select smb://fscluster2.ad.wku.edu/shared.

Click Connect.

Fill NetID and password, if prompted.
- Open Finder.
- Click Go.
- Click Connect to server....
- Fill
smb://fscluster2.ad.wku.edu/secure
- Click (add) button.
- Select smb://fscluster2.ad.wku.edu/secure.
- Click Connect.
- Fill NetID and password, if prompted.
- Open Finder.
- Click Go.
- Click Connect to server....
- Fill
smb://fscluster1.ad.wku.edu/personal/netid.
Note: Replace netid above with your NetID (e.g. smb://fscluster1.ad.wku.edu/personal/abc12345).
- Click (add) button.
- Select smb://fscluster1.ad.wku.edu/personal/
netid.
- Click Connect.
- Fill NetID and password, if prompted.
Optional: Mount Drives at Login
Drives will fail to mount at login if the computer is not connected to WKU-SECURE or a hard-wired Ethernet connection on campus. This is expected behavior. When off campus, one of the methods above must be used after every login.
Use one of the methods above to initially mount the desired drive(s) before completing the following steps.
- Click Finder.
- Select Settings....
- Click check boxes for Hard disks and Connected Servers.
- Close Finder Settings.
- Select the Apple icon.
- Click on System Settings....
- Select Users & Groups.
- Select the Login items button.
- Click on the plus sign.
- In the left navigation panel, under the SHARED header select fscluster1.ad.wku.edu.
- Single click the personal folder.
- Click Add.
- Click the plus sign.
- In the left navigation panel, under the SHARED header select fscluster2.ad.wku.edu.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the folder.
- Single click the Secure folder.
- Click Add.
- Click the plus sign.
- In the left navigation panel, under the SHARED header select fscluster2.ad.wku.edu.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the folder.
- Single click the Shared folder.
- Click Add.
