How do I set up the Microsoft Authenticator app for my student email account?

Resolution
The following steps will need to be followed once multi-factor authentication has been enabled for your account. If you have previously enabled multi factor authentication in another manner, like text messaging, please contact the
ITS Service Desk
to request that multi factor authentication be reset.
Android
You must have the
mobile app
authentication enabled for you to be able to follow these instructions. Follow
this article
if you need to configure multi-factor authentication.
Open the
Google Play
app.
Search for the
Microsoft Authenticator
app, then select
Install
.
Once installed, select
OK
on the
Data Privacy
screen.
Open the app and select the
icon in the top right, then
Add account
.
Select the
Work or school account
option and sign in with student email. Then, scan the QR code to fully setup the app as an authentication method.
Select your student email and use the six-digit code to sign into your email.
iOS
You must have the
mobile app

Open the
App Store
.
Search for the
Microsoft Authenticator
app, then select
Get
.
Once installed, you may have to use FaceID or enter your phone's passcode to get into the app.
Select the
icon in the top right.
Add your student email to the
Work or school account
option. Then, scan the QR code to fully setup the app as an authentication method.
Select your student email and use the six-digit
one-time password code
to sign into your email.
